We know that the ants are organized, united, with that concretizes the saying, “the union makes the force”.
This is a good example, the ants can come together to form a water resistant platform. They group together to form a kind of raft to move around and save themselves from flooding.
On the ants’ raft, part of the colony formed a “layer” that was submerged in water and the other part was suspended. The formation of air under the “raft” increased buoyancy and prevented the underwater layer from drowning. They unite through your jaws and tweezers.
An interesting fact is that the bottom ants have moved to maintain the average thickness of the vessel. Insects underwater may have the ability to detect the amount of colony members on the surface.
